Kristiana Birmingham

Executive Director, brings over a decade of experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring, and administering in the field of early childhood education. She possesses detailed knowledge of Vermont State Child Development Division regulations and STARS performance standards, with an emphasis on providing high-quality, safe programming guided by the Vermont Early Learning Standards.

Kristiana draws inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach, Waldorf education philosophy, and Montessori principles, weaving together child-centered, play-based, and holistic learning methods. Her vision emphasizes creativity, exploration, independence, and respect for each child’s individuality and developmental journey, while fostering strong connections with families and the community.

Kristiana joined the Bridgewater Area Community Foundation, Inc. in 2021 to help realize the dream of creating a vibrant childcare center at the heart of the community. As the founding Director, she oversaw the construction, design, and implementation of the childcare program within Bridgewater’s historic community center building. She is currently pursuing her Vermont Director Credential (Step Three—the final step) and her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Program Management. The Vermont Program Director Credential identifies professional standards in management and leadership for early childhood and afterschool programs, recognizing the specialized skills required to be an effective director.

Before joining BACF, Kristiana directed several afterschool programs within a local school district and developed a remote-day education program during the pandemic. She has studied at the University of New Hampshire and Southern New Hampshire University, with a dual major in Art History and Graphic Design.

Outside of her professional work, Kristiana has a rich background as a competitive figure skater and coach throughout New England, serving in leadership roles as a club President, Secretary, and Safe Sport Chairperson. She is also a certified yoga teacher, holding an RYS 500HR Yoga Alliance certificate.


Owen Putnam

Assistant Director, was born and raised in Bridgewater, Vermont. Owen attended elementary school here at the Bridgewater School and graduated from WUHS in 2014. Prior to joining BACF a week after the childcare opened its doors in 2022, Owen worked in banking/finance with a focus in commercial and personal lending for 5 years. After leaving banking, he quickly realized his love for the early childhood education field. Owen plays a role in and out of the classroom, functioning as a BCC teacher as well as playing an active role in the administrative team. When not working, Owen loves spending time with his family (especially his niece and nephews) and friends.


Patricia Ploss

Administrative Assistant, brings over thirty years of entrepreneurial experience in fashion, design, and hospitality to her role as Administrative Assistant. She studied fashion design, art, and business while attending college in Boston, where she developed a strong foundation in both creative and professional skills.

Throughout her career, as an entrepreneur Patricia has successfully built and managed businesses that highlight her creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to service in the Woodstock community. At BACF she supports daily operations, assists with administrative needs, coordinates special events, and provides support to classroom staff.

Her unique blend of artistic vision, business acumen, and love of children makes her a valuable member of the team, dedicated to supporting staff, families, and the broader community.


Ambrosia Chamberlin

Community Admin was raised in and lives in Bridgewater and has deep roots in the community. She serves as the Assistant Teacher in the Preschool room at BCC and as the Community Administrative Assistant for the Foundation. In these roles, she supports both the educational growth of children and the organizational needs of the community, helping to strengthen the connection between families, staff, and local programs.

As a mother of three, with children attending schools in the region and one enrolled at BCC, Ambrosia brings both professional dedication and personal investment to her work. Her commitment to Bridgewater reflects her passion for fostering a supportive, connected, and thriving community for all families.


Emily Miller

Childcare Admin, is a graduate of Woodstock Union High school of 2023. After high school, Emily originally planned on attending cosmetology school, but after a summer working for BCC she discovered a passion and a love for working in early childhood education. Emily assists in the toddler/preschool room and as the Childcare Administrative Assistant. She is passionate about helping children feel welcomed and a sense of warmth in the classroom. Outside of her classroom work, Emily aids the Executive Director. Emily is also actively working towards her CDA (Child Development Associate). During her spare time, she enjoys spending lots of time with her family. She loves to go on shopping adventures with her twin sister and playing with her family dog.
